The third training session for secondary school supervisors in the Comoros draws to a close!
Conducted by the Office for Climate Education (OCE), a structure housed by the Fondation La main à la pâte, this training course focuses specifically on climate change education.
It is part of the "Bundo La Malezi" cooperation project, initiated and led by the Comoros Ministry of Education and supported by AFD, in which the Fondation La main à la pâte has been involved since December 2021 on the component relating to strengthening the quality of science teaching at secondary level.
Held from May 22 to 26, 2023, this training course led by Jessica Vial and Nicolas Vogt, respectively Scientific Manager and Pedagogical Manager at OCE, addressed various themes relating to climate change in the Comorian context, such as the greenhouse effect, the relationship between climate and the ocean, and the protection of mangroves. The training also enabled supervisors to benefit from two presentations by local scientists: the first by Mr. Nourddine Mirhani and Mr. Gilbert David on the theme of adaptation/mitigation, and the second by Mr. Nourdine Bourhane, on mangrove reforestation. Through these workshops, supervisors also had the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge of the investigative approach and project-based teaching.
The supervisors thus trained will in turn be responsible for training teachers in these themes, which are essential for teaching science in a way that meets today's environmental challenges.
