La main à la pâte mobilized for the "APPRENDRE" training program in Togo
In Togo, the "APPRENDRE" program contributes to strengthening the Ministry of Primary, Secondary, Technical and Handicraft Education (MEPSTA) in improving the quality of education, particularly through initial and in-service teacher training. Partner of the Fondation La main à la pâte in actions related to science teaching, it is in this framework that two first training sessions were conducted in Kpalimé, Togo, from February 6 to 17, for inspectors and pedagogical advisors of schools and middle schools.
The objectives of the training were to :
- To allow participants to appropriate the scientific investigation approach through concrete investigation situations and reflective analyses of the proposed activities.
- To collectively build a training module with activity sheets on the investigative approach for teachers.
These five-day training sessions were co-facilitated by two Togolese trainers - Adjevi Kossi and Esso Assiah - who attended the Foundation's international seminar in December 2022, and a trainer from the Fondation La main à la pâte, Sophie Thuillier. A next session of two trainings will take place in 2023, in order to give the actors time to appropriate the investigative approach and to implement it in schools and middle schools classes in Togo.
