In 2024, Fondation La main à la pâte expanded and deepened its international action, supporting science education systems around the world, particularly in Africa. Through long-term cooperation, teacher training, and the co-development of pedagogical resources; the Foundaion contributed to improving the quality of science teaching in several partner countries. These efforts will continue in 2025, in response to global education challenges.

Supporting high-quality science education in Morocco

In alignment with Marocco's 2022-2026 national roadmap for improving public education, the Foundation launched several intiatives across the country in 2024. A group of around thirty education officials was supported throughout the year with the objective of strengthening scientific teaching practices.

In November, a scoping mission and classroom visits helped refine the upcoming training actions designed to modernize science instruction in 230 lower-secondary schools. At the same time, the Foundation collaborated with the Groupe scolaire La Résidence in Casablanca, delivering tailored training sessions to promote inquiry-based, hands-on learning within the school's classrooms.

These initiativess highlight the Foundation's commitment to supporting quality science education fully aligned with Morocco's national priorities.

Developing pedagogical booklets in the Comoros

As part of the BLM (Nundo La Malezi) program supported by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the Foundation strengthened its presence in the Comoros in 2024.

Its teams contributed to the creation of new science booklet in physics-chemistry and life and earth sciences, specifically designed for secondary education and grounded in the principles of scientific inquiry. Working hand in hand with Comorian teams, the Foundation's traners co-constructed these materials based on filed observations, feedback from previous training sessions, and workshops held directly with teachers.

These booklets are intended to become reference tools for science teching across Comorian middle schools, supporting the ministry's strategy to professionalize and equip teachers with accessible, active pedagogical approaches.

15th International Seminar in Paris

The Foundation's biennal International Seminar  took place in Paris in december 2024, bringing together abotu twenty teacher-trainers form nine French-speaking African countries. Supported by the French ministry in charge of higher education and by AUF's APPRENDRE program, this five-day training aimed to strengthen participants' competencies in science teaching and in the use of inquiry-based pedagogy.

Throughout the week, participants took part in hands-on workshops, classroom immersions, lectures, and peer exchanges. The seminar placed strong emphasis on the links between science education and sustainable development, while shocasing contextualized pedagogical resources.
Praised for its depth and collaborative spirit, this seminar exemplifies the Foundation's long-standing commitment to high-quaality science education in Afrrica, fostered through cooperation and francophone networks.

International outlook : expanding tailored distance training

Beyond its field missions, the Foundation continued working in 2024 on developing distance-learning modules adapted to local contexts. These digital tools aim to complement in-country training and ensure long-term capacity-building among teachers and pedagogical advisers, particularly in regions where access to continuous professional development remains limited.
